About our College
Mackay Christian College is an all-through, co-educational school founded on Christian values. Located in Mackay, a tropical Far North Queensland town, this school has approximately 900 students from pre-kindergarten through Year 12.
Mackay Christian College was founded in 1984 so families in the area could have a faith-based education option for their children. The school seeks innovative, highly qualified staff with strong faith-based values.
With a vibrant working environment, we provide excellent benefits for staff, including professional and career development opportunities that build personal and organisational capability. We celebrate diversity in our workforce and value the knowledge and skills that diverse employees bring to the workplace.
Our staff are recognised as central to achieving our mission, and we emphasise caring and supporting teachers in their vocation in working with students and other aspects of their lives.
Facilities
The school starts with our outstanding MCC Early Learning Centre, which is also a Registered Child Care Provider with an Approved Kindergarten Program. Students’ progress through to our Providence Junior Campus and then our King's Park Senior Campus. Each campus offers modern classrooms with access to technology and specialised rooms for music, film, art, drama, science, and woodworking. An extensive library and Faith centre also serve all students. They also have large areas dedicated to technical trades and agricultural studies, two areas of academic focus. Large sporting fields are also available, with cricket, football, and rugby being popular sports.
We are also in a unique position to have our own Mackay Christian College Trade Training Centre (MCCTTC), which offers a unique program for Year 11 & 12 students who would like to add foundational, practical understanding and abilities to their skill set or who are pursuing a trade career. With strong industry links, experienced staff, and a purpose-built facility, the MCCTTC allow students to develop their trade skills while working toward their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE).
Students, staff, and parents also benefit from a school app, where they can connect with one another and receive school news and updates.
Curriculum
Mackay offers a broad, Christian-based curriculum in line with the education guidelines for the state of Queensland.
Students can choose from a range of electives, including arts, drama, or technical trades.
Senior students can participate in a wide range of apprenticeships and programs that prepare them for university or a trade.
School Ethos
Mackay operates on the CLEAR values model - Christlikeness, Learning, Excellence, Attitude, and Respect.
These are in place to help students and staff develop a lifelong relationship with Christ and provide a solid moral foundation for their educational pursuits.
